Bertine M. Williams, a longtime area resident, passed away on February 14, 2005 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 89.
She was the daughter of Stanley and Ann Valinski and was born on September 15, 1915 in Simpson, Pa.
Bertine worked as an office clerk for Sullivan County Board of Elections in Monticello, N.Y. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Bloomingburg. She was also the past president of the Rock Hill Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Harold E. Williams on Aug. 13, 1986 and by her son Ted S. Williams on Dec. 21, 1992.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Audrey Sloat of Rock Hill, Bonnie Smith and her husband Gary of Rock Hill and Susan Foss and her husband Larry of Hobe Sound, Fla.; 2 brothers, Ted Valinski and his wife Mary of Ormond Beach, Fla. and Jack Valinski and his wife Ann of Lititz, Pa.; 4 grandchildren, Christian, Tyler and Casey Foss of Florida and Stacey Albrecht of Florida; 1 great-grandson Gabriel Foss of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Martha Murtha and 2 brothers Joseph and Stanley Valinski also predeceased her.
Friends may call at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 55 St. John St., Monticello on Friday Feb. 18, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sat. Feb. 19, 2005 at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, RT 17K, Bullville at 10 a.m. The Rev. Patrick McQuigan will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Hill Cemetery, Rock Hill, N.Y.
