Pat was a teacher approximately 40 years retiring in 2006 after 30 years teaching from the Liberal School District. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. A member of the Missouri Teachers Association, she taught religion classes (CCD). She also held her private pilots license.
Survivors include her husband James of the home; three sons-Brian Kirby and wife Elizabeth of Damascus, MD, Kevin Kirby and wife Becca of Bentonville, AR, Al Kirby and wife Carrie of Wichita, KS; five brothers Mick McAtee of Girard, Ed McAtee Newton, Richard McAtee St. Paul, Dennis McAtee Tulsa, OK, Randy McAtee Girard; six sisters Jeanne Theis Cunningham, Betty Bettega Yates Center, Kathy Cichon Pittsburg, Nan Bortnick Wichita, Donna Renn Pittsburg, Paula Duling Hepler, KS; five grandchildren Maria Kirby, Alan Kirby and wife Suzanne of Arnold, MO, Lisa Lammey and husband Heath of Webb City, MO, Brooke Belcher and husband Steve of Ft. Scott, Alison O'Dell and husband Bret of Ft. Scott; three great-grandchildren Morgan and Jacob Lammey and Teddy Kirby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Francie and Peggy McAtee and a grandson Jesse Kirby.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday July 12 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg with Father Thomas Stroot as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, MO.
The parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday July 11 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg where the family will receive friends following the rosary until 7 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Friday. The casket will remain closed at all times.
