Helen E. (Caldwell) Hicks, 80, lifetime resident of North Central Washington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 11, 2005, at Harmony House in Brewster after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease.

Helen was born on May 15, 1925, to Elmer E. and Edna Lutes Caldwell in Cashmere, Washington, the youngest of three children. The family moved to Omak, Washington when she was 2 years old. She grew up and attended school in Omak until she was 17 years old and the family moved to Bridgeport. She graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1943. That fall, she moved to Spokane to obtain employment. In December of that year she met Francis Hicks. They were married on February 13, 1944, and made their home in Mansfield for the next 56 years where they raised heir family on a wheat ranch. They moved to Hill Crest House in Brewster in July of 2000, and then to Harmony House in December 2002. Helen was a member of the Little Stone Church, Mansfield Grange and Grange Auxiliary, and member & Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. Helen was an accomplished pianist and played the piano for church, Grange meetings and her family for many years. She could play any tune she had ever heard whether or not she had the music.

Helen is survived by her 5 children, Timothy W. Hicks, Mansfield, Pamela (Dave) Bartley, Auburn, WA, Dana (Darin) Munden, Cambridge, ID, Rylla (Brian) Riverman, Portland, OR, Brian (Shannon) Hicks, Pateros, WA; 7 grandchildren, Jeremy (Traci) Smart, Janice (Keith) Creameans, Jenny Smart, Trent (Ann) Munden, Chandra Munden, Joshua Hicks, Emily Hicks; and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special Sister-in-law, Cora Nordby. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, of 58 years; her parents; a sister, Thelma; and brother, Lewis.

Funeral Services will be Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Stone Church in Chelan. Internment will follow at the Mansfield Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Mansfield Ambulance Fund or the Little Stone Church of Chelan, WA. Arrangements entrusted to Waterville Funeral Home.
