While Edward and his sister Edna were still small, all of the family which consisted of father Edward, mother Zella, half-brother Carroll, twin half-sisters, Marie and Marietta moved to DeQuincy, LA.
Edward was nicknamed Fritz, a name that followed him through life. Five more children were born into the family and parents Edward Sr and Zella worked hard to provide a good home environment with love and discipline.
Edward/Fritz got his education at public school in DeQuincy and graduated from DeQuincy High School. After school, the family was in need of financial support, so Fritz joined the United States Marine Corps and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was an airplane mechanic in the south Pacific.
After serving there, he returned to the States and went to work with the Civilian Conservation Corps, building roads in Idaho to help the country.
When he returned home to DeQuincy, his twin sister Edna was working in Lake Charles and wanted to introduce him to her co-worker Sophia Olberg. After the introduction, Fritz and Sophia began dating and eventually married on Sept. 5, 1953. In the meantime, Fritz worked at several local industrial plants until he settled at W. R. Grace as an operator. He worked there until his retirement in 1983.
Fritz and Sophia first lived in DeQuincy after marrying and shortly later, moved to Sulphur to build a home.
Their first and only child, Nina Annette Shroll, was born in Sulphur, and the entire family lived at the same location until Nina Annette finished college and Fritz and Sophia passed away.
During his time in Sulphur, Fritz was active at First Baptist Church in Sulphur, and then helped form Trinity Baptist Church in Sulphur. He served as a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, and on various committees for many years.
Fritz died on June 11, 2008 as a result of Parkinson's Disease which he had for many years. His funeral was conducted by Nina Annette's pastor, Carlys Beard, and interment was in Mimosa Pines Cememtery south of Sulphur, LA.
