Mr. Bullington canceled a speaking date at Brownwood Friday night to come here when he received news that his mother was dying. He and his brother, Romer Bullington of Dallas and sister, Ms. Ordille Bullington, were at her bedside when death came.
Mrs. Bullington was the wife of the late Rev. W. I. Bullington, pioneer minister and school teacher in Parker County. She was born in Tennessee, the daughter of a confederate soldier. She and her husband started to Texas in 1882, but ran out of funds in Missouri, where Mr. Bullington taught school for a while. It was during their short stay there that Orville Bullington was born. In 1884 the Bullington's came to Texas in a covered wagon, settling in Parker County.
Establishing a humble home in Poolville, Mr. Bullington taught school and served a number of small congregations. After her husband's death twelve years ago, Mrs. Bullington moved to Weatherford where she has since made her home. It was her wish that the candidate continue his speaking dates as soon as possible.
Funeral services were held from the Couts Memorial Church Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, at which place she had been a member for a number of years. The Rev. R. H. Boyd officiated, assisted by the Rev. W. R. Witherspoon, long time friend of the family. Burial was made in the Weatherford Cemetery.
Besides her three children she is survived by the following grandchildren: Mrs. Joe Witherspoon and Ralph Bullington of Weatherford, and Roy Bullington of El Paso.
