She was born Feb. 3, 1911, in the town of Gilmanton, Buffalo County, to Andrew and Christine (Grass) Anderson. She graduated from Gilmanton High School, attended Buffalo County Normal School in Alma and received her teaching degree from UW-Eau Claire. She married LaVern Nyre on June 23, 1934, in Mondovi. Winsome taught in rural schools in Buffalo County and the Mondovi school district. She was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi and its ladies organizations. She taught Sunday school for 12 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean (Harold) Moats of Oak Creek; seven grandchildren, Vickie (David) Stefanski, Cheryl (Daniel) Stefanski, Terry Moats, Lori Moats, Dale (Mary) Moats, Lisa (Todd) Olbinski and Kristi (Michael) Brzycki; eight great-grandchildren, Christopher (Tammy) Stefanski, Isaac Stefanski, Jason (Brandi) Stefanski, Courtney Stefanski, Steven Olbinski, Brooke Moats, Kiana Olbinski and Samantha Brzycki; four great-great-grandchildren, Landon and Chandler Stefanski and Angela and Krysta Stefanski; a brother, Duane (Phyllis) Anderson of Madison; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern; a daughter, Nancy Nyre; a great-granddaughter, Nicole; her parents; and three brothers, William, Orville and Ellsworth Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi, with the Rev. Rolf Morck officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery in Mondovi.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi, and one hour before services Monday at the church.
