Erma was born on June 26, 1903 in Carland to Henry and Mina (Chase) Schneider and attended school there. She lived in Evart before moving to Reed City in 1941. She married Erwin B. Knoop on Oct. 11, 1920. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1985.
Erma worked as a cook at Reita's Restaurant for five years and at Reed City Hospital for 10 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was one of the first members of the Women of the Moose. Her hobbies were cooking, crocheting, baking pies, and spending time with her family on Sundays.
Survivors include her son, Dale Knoop of Reed City; daughters, Dorothy (Don) Grein, Doris Carlisle, all of Reed City, Leona (Guy) Reichow of Hersey; sister, Mary Louise Petros of Tampa, Fla.; 34 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, Erwin, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Chupp; three sisters; and six brothers.
Visitation: Tuesday, November 15, 2005 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at McDowell Funeral Home in Reed City.
Services: Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Dawn Pooley officiating. Burial will be in LeRoy Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hospice of Michigan.
