Odis Lavaughn Miller, 87, of Idaho Falls, died March 15, 1999, at his son' s home. He was under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice. He was born June 12, 1911, at Garfield, Idaho, to Charlie Albert Miller and Margery Margaret Bramwell Miller. He was a lifelong resident of Idaho Falls and attended Idaho Falls' area schools. On May 13, 1933, he married Florence Burtenshaw at Shelton, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple Feb. 7, 1951. He owned Miller Heating and installed furnaces throughout the Upper Snake River Valley during the 1930s to the 1950s. In 1952 he purchased a ranch on Taylor Mountain and spent the remainder of his life in the livestock business and dry farming. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Boy Scout leader and on the building committee of the Idaho Falls 9th Ward Chapel. He enjoyed horses, gardening, and ranching. Survivors include his wife, Florence Miller of Idaho Falls; four sons, Larry Odis (Evelyn) Miller of Idaho Falls, Stanley Frank (Patricia) Miller of Corvallis, Ore., and Roger L Miller, and Brent Charles (Sondra) Miller, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Lois Ann (Mark) Ricks of Helena, Mont., and Karen (Gregg) Miller of Logan, Utah; three sisters, Melba Ragan and Ardella Cole, both of Idaho Falls, and Ruth Madrazo of Vacaville, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Ray Miller, his parents, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, March 20, at the Idaho Falls LDS 20th Ward, 651 Gladstone, with Bishop Bob Rapp officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls, and Saturday for one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
