Green Rochell was the son of John Henry T. Rochell (Name also shown as "H. L." and "H. G.") and Mary Jane Frances Robinson. His father died fighting during the Civil War. He first married S. E. Stout on May 27, 1884 in Limestone County, Alabama. He and his wife settled in Texas by 1885. They had a son named William R. and a daughter named Icy Pearl (may have been "Joy"). Their daughter died while still a baby. Green's first wife passed away shortly after their daughter died. He married Lenora Josephine ("Jessie") Smith on August 27, 1891. They were the parents of Mary, Emma J., Henry E., George Calvin and a son who died as an infant in 1892. Josephine died in 1932. Green Rochell's third wife was named Mollie Garner.
