Services were held in Paris on Saturday, December 3, in Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hubert Redus officiating. Interment was made in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Bernice Vesta Grimes Sikes was born in Paris on March 3, 1910, daughter of Jim Grimes and Rosa Lee Lattimer Grimes. She attended Paris public schools and married Prentiss B. Sikes on June 27, 1926. She was a member of Graham Street Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband; six sons, Henry Sikes of Fort Worth, Benson Sikes of Lone Star, Eddy Sikes of Wake Village, Billy Frank Sikes, Richard Sikes and Charles Sikes, all of Paris; nine daughters, Mrs. Betty Jo Green, Mrs. Elizabeth Robinson and Mrs. Nellie Ruth Wells of Paris, Mrs. Mary Ann Tatum of Garland, Mrs. Lottie Mae Limeburner of Alto, Mrs. Aline O'Neal of Dallas and Mrs. Alice Bryant of Camp, Mrs Bernice Robinson Mrs Barbara Powell of Dallas; four brothers, Clarence Grimes of Powderly, Earl Grimes of Paris, Jim Grimes of Euless and Willis Parker of San Antonio; one sister, Mrs. Ollie Hammond of Deport; sixty seven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jackie Sikes, Edgar Sikes, Henry Sikes, Phillip Sikes, Floyd Miller and David Norwood." Submitted by Mary J. Tallant.
