Wilson Robeson Bird was born in York County, South Carolina. He was the son of George Bird and Martha Robeson Bird; their burial is in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Rutherford County, North Carolina.

Wilson Bird married Nancy Teal on April 23, 1853 in Rutherford, North Carolina. (North Carolina Marriages, 1759-1979). Nancy Teal was born in North Carolina. In 1860 they were living in McLennan County with two children, Alabama, age 3 born in Texas, and John M, age 1 born in Texas.

In 1870 Wilson and Nancy were living in present day Chalk Bluff, two houses away from the Louis Moore family. Their children were Alabama, age 13, John, age 11, Evalina, age 8, and Joseph age 4. John M and Sarah Evalina are buried at Moore Cemetery. Joseph's burial is in Westbrook Cemetery in Mitchell County, Texas.

In 1880, Wilson, a widow, is living in McLennan county. Living in his household are his son, Joseph age 14, and his brother George age 59.
