“C. L. Norsworthy, Former Wholesale Jeweler, Passes.
Dallas Business Leader Dies After Several Years of Illness.
Clarence Lamar Norsworthy, 52, wholesale jeweler and widely known in his civic activities, died Wednesday afternoon at his home, 4912 Swiss. He had been in ill health for the last few years.
About two years ago Mr. Norsworthy sold out his interests in C.L. Norsworthy & Co., the firm he had built after coming to Dallas in October 1898. Since then he had devoted himself to his private investments.
Wholesale Merchants Leader.
Mr. Norsworthy was one of the most active leaders in the Dallas Wholesale Merchant Association. He was president in 1928 and 1929 and served on the directorate for many years. He was chairman of many of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce trade trips and always one of the most enthusiastic members. At the time of his death he was chairman ex officio of this activity. He served on the directorate of the chamber of commerce several times.
Mr. Norsworthy was born in Huntsville, Sept. 8, 1881, the son of Thomas W and Lucy V. Norsworthy. He attended the public schools there.
He was a lifelong Democrat and in the 1932 presidential campaign was active in raising funds for the Roosevelt-Garner ticket.
He was a member of the Gaston Avenue Baptist Church, a thirty-second degree Mason and a Shriner and a member of the Dallas Athletic Club.
He married Miss Emma Schoellkopf of Dallas.
Surviving are his wife and three sons. Clarence L. Norsworthy Jr., a student at Yale University, George Henry Norsworthy, a student at Woodberry Forest School, Virginia, and Thomas Wiley Norsworthy, in school here.
Funeral arrangements are pending arrival of the sons from school. Services will be private.”

"C.L. Norsworthy Funeral Monday - Funeral services for Clarence Lamar Norsworthy, 52, former president of the Dallas Wholesale Merchants' Association and chairman of many of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce trade trips, will be held at the residence, 4912 Swiss, at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Dr. W. Marshall Craig, pastor of the Gaston Avenue Baptist Church, will officiate. Private services will be conducted at the grave in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Norsworthy died Wednesday at his home. Surviving are his wife and three sons, Clarence L. Norsworthy Jr., George Henry Norsworthy and Thomas Wiley Norsworthy.
