Glen E. Allen, 74, a longtime resident of Brewster, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2000, in the Sacred Heart Medical Center at Spokane.

He was born Dec. 20, 1925, the son of Ralph Lee and Minnie (Elkins) Allen at Blair, OK. He attended school in Clayton, OK and as a young boy, he moved with his family to McAllen, TX.

Glen joined the US Army and served in the Philippines during W.W. II and after his discharge, he moved to Pixley, CA where he worked in agriculture.

On Nov. 1, 1947, he married Marietta Bartshe at Visalia, CA and they continued to make their home in California.

They moved to Pateros in 1963, where he was employed at the John Neff Orchards. In 1967, they moved to Brewster and for 32 years, he worked for Bob Brody where he managed the King Blossom Orchards. Glen and Marietta also owned and operated their own orchard.

Glen was a member of the Mtn. View Pentecostal Church at Brewster where he was very active and served as a Deacon.

His wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were all very important to him. Glen loved to go hunting, fishing, horseback riding and always had a song on his lips singing praises.

He is survived by his wife, Marietta at the home in Brewster; a son and his wife, Glen and Lynda Allen of Brewster; three daughters and their husbands, Patti and Harry Knowlton of Brewster; Diane and Perry Bellah of Tucson, AZ; Debra and Gary Collett of Jerusalem, Israel; a brother, Ray Allen of San Francisco, CA; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Tommy, a brother and two sisters.

Services will be conducted Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at 12 noon from the Barnes Chapel, Brewster with Pastor Bill Long, Pastor Don Womack and Pastor Garland Gilmer co-officiating. Interment to follow at the Pateros Cemetery with Military Rites by the Brewster American Legion Post #97. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Barnes Chapel.

Services are under the direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
