Funeral services were conducted Friday by Rev. C. C. Rickman at the Baptist church. Burial was made in the Fallon Cemetery.
William B. Fleming, former pony express rider through Nevada and well known in early Nevada mining history, died suddenly on Wednesday evening at his ranch near Fallon. He became slightly ill on Friday, but his condition was not believed serious until shortly before his death. He was 67 years of age.
Mr. Fleming came to Nevada as a pony express rider in 1862. He was born near Madison, Wisconsin. He was in Virginia City soon after that place became a settlement. He was active in mining operations in Rawhide, Manhattan and Round Mountain. He spent a number of years in Idaho and his was the first family to move into Silver City, Idaho, during its bonanza days. While in Nevada Mr. Fleming was employed during a considerable period as range rider.
