Mr. Sullivan first joined the Marine Corps in June of 1932. He was promptly sent to Marine Base Parris Island, South Carolina for basic training. He was later transferred to Headquarter Company, 2nd Marines, then Company D, 2nd Marines, and later Company B, 1st Battalion, 5th MAR. He served until January of 1941 and was awarded the Marine Corps Good Conduct medal and the rifle Marksman Badge.
