Glen Wild, Jan. 26 - Mrs. Alice Rundle Adams, wife of the late Hiram Adams, passed away at her home in Glen Wild Jan. 13th. She was the oldest daughter of the late Morris A. Rundle, of Rock Hill, and was born Oct. 9, 1853. After finishing the district school she attended the Monticello Academy and later completed her education in New York City. She was a successful school teacher for a short time before her marriage. When a young girl she joined the Methodist Church, of which she had since been a member. She was married to Hiram Adams, of Glen Wild, Nov. 15, 1876, and for a number of years they accommodated summer boarders. Her health had been failing, due to complications, for the past year, although she had been able to take automobile rides, which was a pleasure to her and visit her numerous friends and neighbors, until a week before her death. Her sickness was so gradual that she suffered very little. She will be greatly missed by her family and near relatives. She was always ready to greet her friends with a pleasant smile and friendly words. Two sons and one daughter surviver her, William R. and Chester G. Adams, and Mrs. Clara Adams Harding, all at home, also one sister, Mrs. John R. Rice, of Glen Wild.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the house, the Rev. Geo. Weber officiating. Interment in the Rock Hill cemetery.
"Mother's gone and we are lonely,
Mother - sweetest name e'er spoke;
In her love our hearts found shelter,
When life's storms and tempest broke.
Dear sister how we miss you,
Since you have gone away,
But we must be faithful, too
And mee in heaven some day.
Not now, but in the coming years,
It may be in the better land,
We'll read the meaning of our tears,
And there, sometime, we'll understand."
