Mrs. Umphress was a native of Marshall County, Tenn. She worked as a secretary for the president of Texas Power and Light for a number of years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Glen Rose and the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Joe Umphress; parents, William T. and Martha Golden; brother, William J. Golden; and sister, Mary Turpin.
Survivors: Sisters, Ethel Baxter and Thelma Griggs of Lewisburg, Tenn.; six nieces; four nephews; 12 great-nieces; eight great-nephews; eight great-great-nieces; and five great-great-nephews, all of Tennessee.
