Sergeant, Company H, 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Left the Saunders Military Institute in Philadelphia on March 1, 1864 to enlist in the regiment. Wounded in the head at St. Mary's Church, Virginia, on June 15, 1864. At war's end, the 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry and the 22nd Pennsylvania Cavalry were consolidated to form the 3rd Pennsylvania Provisional Cavalry. Edward was mustered out with Company E, 3rd PA Provisional Cavalry on October 31, 1865.

Born on July 8, 1845 in White Haven, Pennsylvania. Lived in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania before the war. Lived in Coxton, Pennsylvania, after the war. Post-war occupations inlcuded a surveyor, railroad baggage-master, clerk, postmaster, and train dispatcher. Filed for a pension on March 8, 1875, application number 201,199, certificate 147,614. His wife filed for a widow's pension on March 3, 1911, application number 960,480, certificate number 720,543. Died on February 27, 1911
