Randy A. Kosnopfal, 59, of Balsam Lake, Wis., formerly of Red Wing, died Tuesday at the St. Croix Regional Medical Center. Born June 21, 1949, in Eyota, Minn., the son of Frank and Mavis (Holmes) Kosnopfal, he was educated at Edison High School in Minneapolis and also graduated from Lakewood Community College. He married Diane Bracker on March 20, 1971.

A Vietnam War veteran, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. He worked as a correctional case manager for the state of Minnesota. After retiring from the state, he worked as a deputy sheriff for Polk County, Wis. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Diane, of Balsam Lake; a son, Christopher of St. Croix Falls, Wis.; a daughter, Trisha of Red Wing; two grandsons; his stepfather, Damien Dischinger of Silver Bay, Minn.; brothers and sisters, Shari (Gene) Krause of Otsego, Minn., Larry (Betty) of Chatfield, Minn., Robert (Ry) of Rochester, Gary (Mary Jo) of Milaca, Minn., Susie Kosnopfal of Minneapolis, Nancy Kosnopfal of Minneapolis, Dennis Kosnopfal of Champlin, Minn., and Craig (Debbie) of Ramsey, Minn. His parents preceded him in death.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Red Wing, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be at 10:45 a.m. July 21 in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials can be made in Randy Kosnopfal's name to the V.A. Medical Center, 1 Veterans Drive, Minneapolis MN 55417. Arrangements are being handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
