Lauriston Theodore Izlar was born on the family plantation in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, September 18, 1842; died November 16, 1917; buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Ocala, Marion Co., Florida (Maj. L. T. Izlar on headstone).13

He married in December, 1865, Eleanor Rosamond Sanders, daughter of Clark Sanders. Eleanor was born in 1844; died in 1927; buried at Blackville City Cemetery, Blackville, South Carolina.8

Laurie served in the Edisto Rifles; enlisted as a Private at Cole's Island, November 16, 1861; on muster roll of April 12, 1862; rose to rank of Major; was captured; and was released June 30, 1865.

He became a Lawyer. His biography appears in the "Cyclopedia of Eminent and Representative Men of the Carolinas", Volume I. He was a Mason.

They are listed in the 1900 US Census in Barnwell Co., SC.

Laurie T. Izlar and his wife Eleanor are listed in the Florida State Archives "Florida Civil War Pension Index". They moved to Florida after 1892.

Laurie and Eleanor had four sons and three daughters:

(b) Marion Elber Izlar b. 1870; d. 1902

(c) Eula Lee Izlar b. 1879, d. 1945
