A distressing accident that resulted in the death of little Margery Bair, aged 6 years, at the home of her parents Mr and Mrs Charles Bair on the Westville Road happened Wednesday morning when the child fell against the cookstove in the home.
The terrible accident happened at 6 o'clock while the mother was dressing and the father had gone to the barn to feed the stock. The child still in her nightclothes went into the kitchen and the next moment the mother heard the screams of the child. Rushing to the room, she found the tot a mass of flames and in trying to extinguish the fire, the mother suffered severe burns on the arms. The child inhaled the flames and this caused her death about five hours later. The child did not lose consciousness at the time of the accident but was unable to tell how it happened.
The parents are prostrated with grief and have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement. Besides the parents, an older sister aged 8 survives. The home is located at the old Abe Rohrer place which is owned by Mr Bair.
