Frank Clifford "Cliff" Dodsworth passed away on a Friday at his home in Sonora. He had returned to live there two years before his death.
Cliff was born in Jamestown to the former Ruth E. Aldridge and Frank Richard Dodsworth. Cliff was a fourth generation native of Tuolumne County on his mother's side of the family. His father ran a general hardware store in Jamestown which he opened in 1902.
Mr. Dodsworth graduated from Sonora High School in 1925. He began working for Shell Oil Company the next year.
He married Ruth Edna Hill, another descendant of Tuolumne County pioneers, in 1930 in Columbia.
He retired from Shell Oil Company in Fresno in 1963.
Mr. Dodsworth was survived by two daughters, Carol Hansen of Twain Harte and Ann L. Howe of Seattle; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1976.
Private graveside services were held at the Odd Fellows section of the Columbia cemetery. Terzich-Wilson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Sarah Ann Little Dodsworth was a sister of my great grandfather. Several years ago, I sent for her obituary from Tuolumne County, CA. Will be happy to share it and also I have one for her son Frank, born ca. 1867 in Kansas. I have not yet found the graves of the parents of Sarah Ann Little Dodsworth who were Samuel W. & Matilda (nee Smith) Little. However, if you search on the last name "Little" in Champaign County, Illinois, you will find the grave of her grandfather, Benjamin Jackson Little, and can trace back several generations from there. He lived in Licking County, Ohio from ca. 1825 to 1875, but moved to IL after the death of his wife.

Sarah Ann Little Dodsworth was a sister of my great grandfather. Several years ago, I sent for her obituary from Tuolumne County, CA. Will be happy to share it and also I have one for her son Frank, born ca. 1867 in Kansas. I have not yet found the graves of the parents of Sarah Ann Little Dodsworth who were Samuel W. & Matilda (nee Smith) Little. However, if you search on the last name "Little" in Champaign County, Illinois, you will find the grave of her grandfather, Benjamin Jackson Little, and can trace back several generations from there. He lived in Licking County, Ohio from ca. 1825 to 1875, but moved to IL after the death of his wife.
Frank Clifford "Cliff" Dodsworth passed away on a Friday at his home in Sonora. He had returned to live there two years before his death.
Cliff was born in Jamestown to the former Ruth E. Aldridge and Frank Richard Dodsworth. Cliff was a fourth generation native of Tuolumne County on his mother's side of the family. His father ran a general hardware store in Jamestown which he opened in 1902.
Mr. Dodsworth graduated from Sonora High School in 1925. He began working for Shell Oil Company the next year.
He married Ruth Edna Hill, another descendant of Tuolumne County pioneers, in 1930 in Columbia.
He retired from Shell Oil Company in Fresno in 1963.
Mr. Dodsworth was survived by two daughters, Carol Hansen of Twain Harte and Ann L. Howe of Seattle; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1976.
Private graveside services were held at the Odd Fellows section of the Columbia cemetery. Terzich-Wilson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
