Charlotte I. Olson,91, of Alexis, Illinois died at 5:15 P.M. Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Heartland Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born October 10, 1916 in Viola, Illinois the daughter of Jesse and Maggie (Glenn) Lindburg. She was raised and educated in Viola, graduating from Viola High School in 1934. She later graduated from Monmouth College in 1962 with a Bachelors Degree in Education.
Charlotte married Carl S. Olson in Kahoka, MO on November 11, 1939 and he died January 13, 1997.
Charlotte was a teacher who taught in various environments ranging from a one room school to High School math. But, she spent the majority of her career teaching 3rd Grade in the Alexis School District until her retirement in 1978 after 32 years.
She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, collecting salt and pepper shakers, reading and being around her family.
Charlotte was a member of the Alexis United Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Rachel Circle and served as an Elder. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers Association, and PEO Chapter G.
Surviving are her son, Leslie (Linda) Olson of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Karen (Craig) Olson of East Galesburg, IL and Linda (Earl) Miller of North Henderson, IL; 6 grandsons, Todd (Sarah) Olson of Minneapolis, MN, Robert Olson of Phoenix, AZ, Allen (Waleska) Olson of Phoenix, AZ, Shaun (Vanessa) Olson of North Henderson, IL, Eric Miller of Alexis, Jason (Tiffany) Miller of Monmouth, IL; one granddaughter, Sarah Olson of Phoenix, AZ; three great grandchildren, Elwood Olson of Minneapolis, MN, Caitlyn Olson of North Henderson, IL and Caden Miller of Joy, IL; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great grandson, Keegan Olson, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church, Alexis with Pastor Phil Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, North Henderson. Friends may call after 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the church where her family will be present to receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service. Memorials may be given to The Alexis United Presbyterian Church or the United School Education Foundation. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis is in charge of the arrangements.
