DALLAS - Elmer A. Hanes, 101, Rt. 2 Box 82, died Thursday at a Dallas nursing home.
He was born May 26, 1867, two years after the close of the Civil War, in
Barry County, Michigan. He moved to Loma Linda, California, in 1922 and was carpenter and later a boiler attendant at Loma Linda hospital until retiring about 1930. He came to Dallas six years ago, and was a member of Falls City Seventh-day Adventist Church. The family said Hanes had never smoked or drank, and was a vegetarian.
Survivors include a foster daughter Mrs. Alvin Kurz, Dallas.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bollman mortuary, Elder Lester Storez officiating. Burial will be at Dallas Cemetery.
