Elmer Engler, known as "Elmo" in the HAM Fraternity with call letters K8NZW, died suddenly at home on Sunday, February 1, 1998 at the age of 82. Retired from the OSU Airport and after 20 years of service and a HAM Radio operator and enthusiast for over 40 years. Elmo is preceded in death by his wife Iris Engler, parents Henry and Emma Cain Engler and brothers Warren and Gerald Engler. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Jim) Herbster of Dublin; son, Tom (Darlene) Engler of Grove City; grandchildren, Mark (April) Herbster, Melanie Corson, Kerry Herbster, Mindy Herbster, Chad (Candice) Engler, Leah Engler and Sinead Engler; step-grandchildren, Jeremy Porter and Sara Porter; great-grandchildren, Angela Corson, Hannah Herbster and Andrew Herbster; brother-in-law, Joe Sells; sisters-in-law, Mary Grau and Carolyn Tilley; nieces, nephews, neighbors and many friends throughout the world on world-wide amateur radio. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington, where funeral service will beheld 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 1998. Rev. Tyler Flynn officiating. Interment Northlawn Memory Gardens.
