Funeral of William Plunkett
The funeral service of William Plunkett was held, Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Wilmot Christian church. The services were conducted by Rev. A. Homer Jordan of Winfield. He gave his sermon from the text; Hebrews, 9:27. "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." The church choir sang, "Jesus Lover of My Soul."

Burial was made in the Wilmot cemetery.

William Plunket was born in Schuyler Co., Ill., March 10, 1838, died Feb. 4, 1922. Aged 83 years, eleven months, and six days.

When quite a young man he was united in marriage to Miss Levina Keene who survives him. To this union were born eight children, six of whom survive. Mrs. S.H. Battell, Tekoa, Washington, Mrs. C.W. Hilton, Wichita; Mrs. Willie Ashbury, Winfield; Mrs. Gordon Hardy, Raleston, Oklahoma; Henry of Haviland, Kansas; and Charles, at home. In the early days he united with the Christian church at Floral, Kansas. In his death we lose a kind husband, a loving father, a good friend and neighbor and one of the oldest pioneer settlers in the county. - A Friend.
