He was born May 10, 1908, in Avard, Okla., the son of the late Charles and Jennie Tapp Bainum. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nel; one daughter, Saundra; one brother; three sisters; one great-granddaughter; and one stepson.
He had been in the ministry for 50 years, starting new churches in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Illinois. At the time of his death, he was visitation pastor and member of the State Street Baptist Church in Lincoln.
Surviving are his wife, Vera "Penny;" two daughters, Mrs. George (Shirley) Hare of El Cajon, Calif., and Mrs. Dwight (Barbara) Morrison of Chatham; five sons, Donald of Hesston, Kan., Joseph of Escondido, Calif., Stephen of Newton, Kan., Philip of Houston, Texas, and John Paul of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Lera Maxted of Aurora, Mo., and Mrs. Lorena Reed McGlyn of Wichita, Kan.; 23 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services: State Street Baptist Church, Lincoln, the Rev. S.M. Davis officiating. Burial: Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
