"A. L. Hooe, a native of Loudoun County, Va., and well known here, died in Cincinnati, December 25, aged sixty-two. He was a queensware merchant, the name of the firm being A. L. Hooe & Co. He began business in Louisville, Ky., and moved to Cincinnati in 1864. He was a cousin of Asst. Chief Clerk J. H. Hooe, of the Agricultural Dept., and related to Dr. Wm. F. Luckett, of this city. He leaves a widow, who was Miss Georgianna Luckett, of Virginia, and four children" - Washington Post, 28 Dec 1895
