My second cousin Fredia Christine was the daughter of my great-aunt Fannie DUTY Jobe and Mirl Jobe. She was the granddaughter of James (Jim) G.A. Duty and Littia Anna WHITLOCK Duty, along with paternal grandparents, Datia SHERWOOD Jobe and Luther Jobe.

When Fredia Christine was only four years old her mother died in childbirth. Her new baby sister was adopted by her mother's niece, Opal DUTY Shultz and husband, Claud Shultz. However, this little sister only lived for two months and five days.

Mirl Jobe, her father, had left for California after her mother died to look for work. Fredia Christine JOBE and her two brothers, Cecil Howard Jobe and Hershel Jobe, were taken in by their uncle, brother to their mother, and his wife, Jess Duty and Arevia YORK Duty and raised along with their own two children, Betty Sue and Louise. All five of them were in the same age group and got along very well, feeling like actual brothers and sisters as they grew toward adulthood together.

Fredia Christine JOBE married her first husband, Lonnie Christian, on April 3, 1948 in Clay County, Arkansas. They made their home in Missouri and were blessed with their first child, a boy they named Danny Christian, on July 19, 1949.

During her lifetime, Fredia Christine had been a wife, a mother who gave birth to seven children, (with second husband, Dick Wheat, being the father of five of the children) a sister, an aunt, and a friend to many. Fredia Christine was a fun loving, happy-go-lucky sort of person and she was always doing something nice for others.

Fredia became ill with lung cancer and fought very hard to beat it. However, she lost that battle.

She was preceded in death by her mother and one son. Among her survivors were her children, her father; Mirl and brothers; Cecil Howard and Hershel.

Fredia Christine was so loved and is greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. She was 47 years old.
