ETTA LOVE LUCY:
Etta Love Lucy, 90, of North Dinwiddie, Va., passed away on May 15, 2016. Born in Dolphin, Va., October 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Andrew E. and Sallie O. Lucy; and was also preceded in death by her loving husband, William E. Bishop Jr.; two brothers, Kenneth A. Lucy and Maxey Lucy; and nephew, K. Gerald Lucy. Mrs. Bishop is survived by three children: one daughter, Carolyn B. Wilkins (Wayne); two sons, William E. Bishop III (Ann Pryor) and Donald L. Bishop (Karen); five grandsons, James M. King Jr., Andrew C. King (Mollie), Dr. Steven E. Bishop (Rachel), W. Tanner. Bishop (Brittany) and Ashton P. Bishop; two granddaughters, Brittney N. Gupton and Ann Cabell Bishop; two great-granddaughters, Courtney K. King and Elizabeth (Ellie) J. Bishop; two great-grandsons, William E. (Liam) Bishop and Arian M. King; three sisters-in-law, Shirley L. Bishop, Maxine B. Simmons (William) and Lavenia B. Gibson (Leroy); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Bishop graduated from Alberta High School and Perry Business School. She worked at the Bank of Alberta and retired from the Bank of Virginia in Dinwiddie. She loved her family, friends, researching family history and sewing. She made many beautiful quilts. She was a member of Smith Grove and Bethel United Methodist Churches. She enjoyed the many friends she made at both. The family will receive friends and family Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home, 410 Windsor Ave., Lawrenceville, Va. 23868. The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, with burial in the Bethel Church Cemetery, Alberta, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Building and Cemetery Fund, 310 Pinehurst Place, Alberta, Va. 23821.
