William Guy Dunlap, 76, of near Galesburg Route 3 died Thursday at 9:15 PM at St. Mary's Hospital.

He was born March 8, 1892, in Chesnut Township, Knox County. He received his education in the Abingdon area at attending Hedding College there. He was graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana in 1914.

Mr. Dunlap was a farmer most of his life except from 1918-1930, when he worked at the Abingdon bank. He was a member of the Abingdon Congregational Church, Masonic Lodge 185, a director of the former Louisville School of the Abingdon area for a number of years and served in World War I.

Mr. Dunlap was a sports enthusiast and set the unbroken Knox County record for the 100-yard dash in 1910.

He married Leona Smith August 1, 1917. She died in 1943. Later he married Ruth Moore December 22, 1945 at Abingdon. She survives with two sons, Robert H of Monmouth and Harold G of Abingdon; a daughter, Mrs. Florence McKinley of Michigan City, IN; a sister, Mrs. Lura Byram of Fontana, CA; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Saturday afternoon and evening at the Larson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Sunday 2:30 PM at the Congregational Church. Rev. I David Thompson officiated. Mrs. Ardith Tubbs was organist. Entombment was in Abingdon Mausoleum.
