ADCOCK - William Arthur Adcock, son of John and Della Adcock, was born on February 27, 1896 in Monroe County, Iowa and passed away on August 8, 1968, at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital in Chariton, after a long illness at the age of 72 years, four months and eight days.

On July 27, 1914, he was united in marriage to Golda Prevo. All of their married life has been spent in Lucas County. For a number of years, he was mine foreman for Central Iowa Fuel Company, Mine No. 4 at Williamson.

In 1942, when the mine closed, he entered farming near Chariton and one year ago, he retired and moved into Chariton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers, and one daughter, Bernice Darlene in 1959.

Surviving are his wife, Golda; one son, Bill of Newbern, Tenn.; four daughters, Mrs. Thelma Avitt of Moline, Ill.; Mrs. Lila Lovrien of Lacey, Wash.; Mrs. Pauline Ennis and Mrs. Marguerite Moore, both of Des Moines; two brothers, Paul Adcock of Tulsa, Okla. and Homer Adcock of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Bea Follett of San Jose, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. L. W. Mendenhall at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 1968 at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
