Abraham Emerson was born September 19, 1752 at Lyme, New London County, Connecticut to Abraham and Deborah Lord Emmerson. He married Mary Waite, widow of Thomas Rathbone, August 9, 1773 at Lyme, New London County, Connecticut. She had two children by her first marriage: John and Ebenezer. Abraham and Mary had ten children: Mary, Theophilus, Elizabeth, Elisha, Benjamin Dudley, Abraham, Clement, Hannah, Lydia and Esther Emeline. Wife Mary died and Abraham married Lucy Comstock sometime after 1812. We are not aware of any children from this marriage. Abraham died July 4, 1821 at the age of sixty eight. He is buried in the Marvin Cemetery, Lyme, New London County, Connecticut.
