Businessman. Co-founder of Neiman-Marcus department store. In 1907, Neiman and his wife Carrie Marcus, along with her brother Herbert, opened the first Neiman-Marcus store in Dallas. Both Neiman and Marcus worked in Atlanta's sales promotion industry prior to launching the store. After divorcing Carrie in 1928, Neiman left the company and worked in a variety of mercantile businesses in Chicago, Minneapolis, and New York. He died penniless, according to sources, with only a cuff link in a cigar box as his sole remaining possessions.
