The Index, November 30, 1961:

Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Mabary, 79, was born March 3, 1882 in Odessa, Mo., the fourth daughter born to the late Laura Catherine McNeal and John Wilson McBurney, and passed away Friday morning, Nov. 24, 1961 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harold Eldridge, in Osceola, Mo., with whom she made her home.

In the year 1905 she was united in marriage to John W. Mabary, and to this union ten children were born, three having passed away in infancy, and one daughter, Mrs. Frances Johnson passed away in the year 1942. Mr. and Mrs. Mabary spent their first two years of married life in Kansas City, moving to Hickory County where they lived until 1923, at which time they moved to Benton County where they spent the remainder of their married life.

At the age of 13 Martha joined the Methodist Church and in the year 1952 she and Mr. Mabary united with the Hogles Creek Baptist Church.

Mr. Mabary preceded her in death on September 29, 1954. After the death of her husband, it later became necessary for her to make her home with her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Eldridge of Osceola, where she spent the rest of her life.

Surviving are her six children: Mrs. A. C. Davidson of Richland, Washington; Mrs. Harold Eldridge, Osceola; Mrs. Richard Clark of Fulton, N. Y.; Richard Mabary, Kansas City, Alfred E. Mabary, Osceola, and Frank J. Mabary of the West Coast. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Nanny Reynolds of Grainfield, Kansas. Two other sisters preceded her in death. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Reser Chapel in Warsaw at 2 p.m. November 26 with Rev. C. Fay Kessinger officiating and Mrs. Barbara Wilhite as soloist. Burial was in Fischer Cemetery near Preston under direction of Reser Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Dwane, Stanley and Gayle Eldridge, Shirley Collins, Ted Schneider, Doyle Hart.
