Duane Milo John of Sweet Home died Friday a the result of a logging accident. He was 50.

He was born in Lebanon to Milo and Retha Mae Smith John. He graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1968. He went to work for Willamette Industries in 1969 running skidder, was on the cutting crew and for the past three years ran a road grader for the company. He loved the comraderie of his work crew.

He married Lee Ann Babcock on April 12, 1969 in Sweet Home. They renewed their vows on their 25th anniversary.

He enjoyed garage sales and antique digging. Duane and Lee Ann's goal was to visit each of the states and see the sights.

He is survivied by his wife; his daughter Becky Whitmore of Sweet Home; son Mark John of Woodburn; mother Retha John of Sweet Home; and three grandchildren Kendall John, Nickolas & Alexander Whitmore.

Viewing will be at the Sweet Home Evangelical Church from 2 to 8p.m. on Monday, March 20. Funeral services will begin at 2:30p.m. on Tuesday, March 21 in the Sweet Home Evangelical Church with Pastor Gary Hooley Officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel.
