REV. JOHN ALLEN BRAKEFIELD JR., 56, of Coldwater, Miss., formerly of Hernando, telecommunication employee for University of Tennessee at Memphis, died of cancer Tuesday at his home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Goodman Road Baptist Church with burial in New Bethlehem Cemetery in Horn Lake, Miss. Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home of Hernando has charge. He was a Baptist, served as a missionary in Oklahoma and Mexico, and was a Vietnam War veteran. Mr. Brakefield, the husband of Lois Embrey Brakefield, also leaves two sons, Michael Gilbert of San Antonio, Texas, and Mack Gilbert of Coldwater; his mother, Lela Brakefield of Lake Cormorant, Miss.; two sisters, Peggy Respess of Nesbit, Miss., and Mary Barnett of Senatobia, Miss., and five grandchildren.
