Roscoe R. Sumner, 70, prominent Dewitt county farmer living southwest of Midland City, died suddenly of a heart attack at 9:15 a.m. today.
Mr. Sumner was stricken suddenly while conversing with County Treasurer Howard Lindsey in the Trummel drug store. Before he was stricken and fell from the stool on which he was sitting, he remarked to Mr. Lindsey he was not feeling well. He was rushed to the John Warner hospital in the Reeser ambulance but was pronounced dead upon arrival there.
Coroner John K. Herington conducted an inquiry.
He was the son of the late A.R. and Mary Alice (Randolph) Sumner, and was married to Minnie Howser, who survives with two sons, Harold and Kenneth, both of Midland City.
The body is at the Reeser Funeral home pending funeral arrangements.
