Services for Walter Leroy Vest, 90, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Revs. Harold Hermetz and Ted Cramer officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery. Mr. Vest died Saturday, Sept. 1 at his residence. He was born in Cullman County on Sept. 4, 1910 to John Wesley and Martha Canant Vest. He was a retired crane operator for Local 612 operating engine in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Johnny Vest; and his first wife, Exer Reynolds Vest. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Mauter Vest of Cullman; daughter, Amanda (Horace) Tucker of West Point; granddaughter, Alice Tucker of Cullman; great-granddaughter, Andrea Tucker; two sisters, Dollie Flanagan of Crane Hill, Ruby Hunt of Cullman; stepdaughter, Joyce Zimmerman of Warrior; and step-grandson, Scott Zimmerman of Hoover. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Alacare Hospice or St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
