ETHYL JULIA McNIECE of HOWELL entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 29. She died at home after a stay at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood, and Fountainview Rehabilitation Center, Lakewood. She was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Brooklyn, where she lived until 1963, when she relocated to Howell. She was the daughter of Joseph and Julia Abruzzo, both deceased. She was employed in the banking industry in New York until the early '70s, when she became a nurse's aide; she became a licensed practical nurse in 1976, attending Monmouth County Vocational School. She worked thereafter at Point Pleasant Hospital and then at Medicenter, Lakewood, retiring in 1988.
Ethyl leaves five children, Janice Fry, Donna Maul, Julie Smith, and Maureen Smith, all of Howell, and a son, Curtis Maul of Asbury Park. She will be remembered by seven granddaughters, two grandsons, a great-granddaughter; a great-grandson, as well as her faithful companion cats, Eddie and J.J.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at D'Elia Funeral Home, Vermont Avenue and Route 70, Lakewood. Burial will take place Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery after Mass at All Saints Episcopal Church, River Avenue (Route 9 South) and Second Street, Lakewood, which will commence at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 260 Wall St., Eatontown, NJ 07724, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 105 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
