Agnes Irene Severson, 90, Aitkin, died July 18, 2008, at Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin.
She was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Westerheim Township, Lyon County, to Andrew and Ida (Hanson) Broughton. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, Normania Township, and graduated from Minneota High School in 1935. On March 18, 1937, she married Raymond Severson in Cottonwood. They farmed in Swede Prairie Township until 1970 and moved to Clarkfield in 1972. After Raymond's death in 1992, Agnes continued to live in Clarkfield until moving to Aitkin in 2001 where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law. In 2006, she moved to the Aicota Health Care Center.
Funeral services were held July 22 at St. Lucas Lutheran Church with Pastors Steve Weston and Warren Broughton officiating. Marge Haaland was the organist and the congregation sang What a Friend We Have in Jesus, Under His Wings, Near the Cross, and Great is Thy Faithfulness. Casketbearers were Monte Finifrock, Jon Severson, Eran Severson, Erik Severson, Ethan Severson and Kraig Skistad. Honorary casketbearers were Joel Finifrock, Katharine Finifrock, Sara Skistad, Amey Severson, Nicole Severson and Katharine Severson. Burial was in St. Lucas Lutheran Cemetery in Normania Township.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Arlen and Juli Severson, Esko; David and Zan Severson, Burnsville; and Ihleen and Gary Williams, Aitkin; grandchildren, Katharine Finifrock, Sara Skistad, Jon Severson, Erik Severson, Ethan Severson, SuZan Severson and Eran Severson; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Myrna Broughton; and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Carl, Alvin, Henry and William Broughton; and sister, Mae Wegener.
