FRED W. WENGER
A graveside service for Fred W. Wenger, a retired heavy equipment operator for the city of Portland, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Helvetia Cemtery in Helvetia. Mr. Wenger died of causes related to age Friday in a Portland care home. He was 97.
Mr. Wenger was born July 20, 1894, in Helvetia in Washington County. He and his wife, Clara, sold their Helvetia-area farm and moved to Portland in 1925. He retired from his city job in 1959. He was a member of the Lents Masonic Lodge and Multnomah Hunters and Anglers.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Ellen Borich of Portland; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to a charity of one's choice.
