Pioneer Resident of Truckee Answers Call
Truckee Republican, Feb 1, 1917
Mrs. W.A. Bucknam, one of Truckee's pioneer residents passed to the immort realm of the Great Beyond, after suffering for many years from kidney trouble, this morning at 8.30 in her home at this place. Her husband was with her when she passed away, and had time permitted her daughter who lived across the street would have been called but her departure was so unexpected that her husband did not have time to notify the daughter.

For a great many years Mrs. Bucknam ran the Truckee Republican and she was also postmistress here for a period of years, and was always an active worker for the betterment of conditions in Truckee.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, W.A. Buckam; a daughter, Mrs. W.F. Wilkie and two sisters, Mrs. McGlashan of Truckee and Mrs. Washeim.

Laura E. Keyser (sic) was born at Yankee Jim's, California April 11 1856; the daughter of Judge Keyser. At an early age she came to Truckee and has made it her home ever since.

The funeral services will be held next Sunday afternoon fro the Masonic Temple at two o'clock under the auspices of Truckee Chapter No. 116, O.E.S.

The Republican joins with the entire community in extending sympathy to the bereaved
