77. JOSEPHINE MAY (WHEAT) SHOBER—Born in Wheeling, Virginia, February 22, 1833; married July 12, 1853, to the Hon. Francis E. Shober, of Salisbury, North Carolina. Mr. Shober was born in Salem, North Carolina, March 12, 1831; received an academic education both in his native State and in Pennsylvania; graduating at the University4of North Carolina, in June 1851; studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1854. He was elected to the lower branch of the General Assembly of North Carolina in 1862-64, and to the State Senate in 1865. He was elected to represent the State in the Forty-first Congress, and reelected to the Forty-second Congress, by a large majority.
Their children—the eldest born in Chapel Hill, the others in Salisbury, North Carolina, where the family now resides:—

ii. Selina Rorerdeau, b. Jan. 5. 1857.
