CANTON -- George Wilson, 85, of 250 Thompson Court, formerly of Elmwood and Yates City, died at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Graham Hospital.
Born May 4, 1912, in Jubilee Township to George W. and Margaret Maple Wilson, he married Martha Smith on Aug. 27, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa. She died Oct. 10, 1988. He also was preceded in death by two grandchildren, five brothers and three sisters.Surviving are three sons, Dale and Larry, both of Canton, and Jack of Farmington; four daughters, Arlene Swanson of Canton, Deloris Hutton of Cuba, Diana Graff of Pekin and Denise Briggs of Wilmington, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Virginia Coon of Pekin and Florence McCormick of Reynolds.He was a farmer in Yates City. He then worked as an assembler for Caterpillar Inc. for 17 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.Peoria Journal Star, The (IL) - Thursday, January 15, 1998
