Bernice Ellen Huff was born May 3, 1920 in Cedar County, MO, the daughter of Oscar Donald and Lucy Caroline (Cargill) Huff. Bernice passed away on December 27, 2006 in Independence, MO at the home of her daughter. She was 86 years old and had lived most her life in the Independence area. She was a member of the Eagles Aerie 385-Ladies Auxillary. She had always enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid flower gardener. In the spring and summer she always had a pretty flower to show whomever may stop by to visit. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She always loved to laugh, especially with her twin sis, Beulah. In 1937 Bernice was married to John Bill Cheek. To this union was born two children, John Wesley and Joyce Ellene. Bernice was later married to Kenneth Keesee and later still to Harold Montgomery. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Lester Lewis, Roy Thomas, Albert Harold and an infant, four sisters; Erma Eulalia, Myrl Celestine, Leah Mae, and Beulah Ethel, her twin. Bernice is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Linda Cheryl Cheek of Elsberry, MO and her daughter, Joyce Ellene Carriker of Independence, MO. She leaves five grandchildren, Joyce Carriker Haynes, Timothy Carriker, Elizabeth Carriker Jewell, Rhonda Cheek Hubbard, and John Lee Cheek. She also leaves 15 great-grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Anthony, Alison, Anna, Amelia, Donovan, Scott, Emily, Ethan, Leah, David, Chris, Brady, and Tristen; and one great-great-granddaughter, Jillian. Bernice is also survived by her special friend of nearly 20 years, Bob Dorrell. Bernice's smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
