He attended St. John's Lutheran School through the eighth grade. In the early years of their marriage, Rudy worked as an inspector at the Modine Manufacturing Company. He later worked as a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service. While a postman, Rudy and his family lived in the county near Door Village. After the death of Lyla, Rudy went to live with his daughter Joan in Illinois.
Died Taylorville on May 24, 1995. Buried in Door Village Cemetery near his home on May 27, 1995.

Mr. Rudolph L. Hannemann, 89, of 100 Heights Ave., Taylorville, Ill., died Wednesday, May 24, 1995, at 11 a.m. at his home. He was born March 1 1906 in LaPorte, to Charles and Mary (Levenhagen) Hannemann, and had lived in Taylorville for four years, moving from LaPorte. Mr. Hannemann was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, and had retired as a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. On April 11, 1936, in LaPorte, he married Lyla A. Provolt, who died June 6, 1991. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers. Surviving are one daughter, Joan Lawrence of Taylorville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one brother, Herbert, of LaPorte. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Door Village Cemetery with Rev. Lynda Vackar officiating. Friends may call at Haverstock Funeral Home from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
