Marion Francis Gard was the sixth of the seven children of Resin Gard and first wife Sarah Mills. He was born December 31, 1839 in Wabash County, Illinois. He married Mary R. Bozorth there on November 26, 1865. She was the daughter of John Wesley Bozorth and Eleanor Collins Matthews, who were originally from Grayson County, Kentucky. He died in Liberty Twp, Marion County, Kansas on February 10, 1907 and was buried in the Gard Cemetery. He had donated the land for this cemetery in 1872.
