DIED at his residence in Union Township, this county, on May 8, 1879, MR. MARTIN HOOD, aged eighty-six years. MR. HOOD was one of the pioneer settlers of Lucas County, having removed here in the fall of 1852. He was in apparently excellent health up to last Saturday when he was seized with a chill which soon led to his death. He was one of our best and most honored citizens and highly esteemed by all.
Note: Cemetery records indicate that Martin Hood died at age 82 years, 4 months, 10 days, which would make his date of birth 28 December 1796.
