Alice Amanda Barley Moritz was born in Somerset, Ind., December 11, 1858, and passed away in Mercy Hospital, Parsons, February 24, 1931.
When a few years old, she moved with her parents to Montpelier, Ind., where on June 24, 1875, she was united in marriage to William Henry Moritz.
To this union, four children were born.
A daughter, Mrs. Ella Moritz Daugherty of Minneapolis, Minn., survives her and she came two weeks ago to be at her mother's bedside.
Three sons, Earl, William, Jr. (Willie), and Clyde died some years ago. She is also survived by two sisters and three brothers who live near Conway, Ark.: eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Last summer she made a very unusual request of her pastor, that he write her obituary at that time, which he did. She also requested that her funeral be preached from Eph. 2:8.
Her funeral was preached by the Rev. Taylor, Thursday afternoon in the Methodist church in Galesburg and burial was made in Galesburg Cemetery by the side of her husband, who passed away almost three years ago.
